Assigning Power POCs
Users can assign POCs to power panels in three different ways from the home page.
A. Assign a single POC – Assign the selected POC to a panel.
B. Assign Multiple Similar POCs – Assign multiple POCs with similar attributes to a panel.
C. Assign from Flash – Assign POCs from an approved flash scenario.
A. Assign a single POC
This button allows users to assign individual POCs to panels. When a user clicks the Assign POC icon in the grid, the panel selection screen will be displayed, enabling them to complete the assignment process.
The panel selection screen includes several components that provide details about the selected POC and enables users to assign or update panel assignment. The screen is described below:
1. Tool Details
Located in the top-left corner of the screen, this section displays the following key information about the tool associated with the selected POC.
- Tool Details: Entity, Life, CEID, Facility, Bay, Design Start, Active from, & Active to
2. POC Button Search Bar
At the top center of the screen, the selected POC appears as a selectable button. It has an "include" checkbox above it, which is checked by default. The following POC details are displayed above the POC button to the right of the tool details.
- POC: TPOC Ref, Voltage, FLA, Phase, Level, Panel, and Roxtec.
3. Level Dropdown
This dropdown allows users to select the level within the facility where the POC is located. It lists all levels in the facility.
4. Power Tag Dropdown
This dropdown allows users to select the PowerTag for the POC. The dropdown includes all PowerTags within the facility.
5. Roxtec Dropdown
This dropdown displays a list of Roxtecs available in the selected facility. Selecting a Roxtec from this dropdown will assign the POC to that Roxtec. The Roxtec dropdown only appears for facilities that use Roxtecs.
6. Panel Dropdown/Search
Displays a list of panels that match the Power Criteria of the POC being assigned. Users can type or paste text into the dropdown to search for panel names containing the entered text.
For each panel in the dropdown, the system shows the Total Distance from the POC and the updated Bottleneck Fill percentage after including the POC's load. This helps users review and select the most suitable panel for the POC assignment.
7. Show DPs Checkbox
By default, if the FLA of the POC you are assigning is less than 57 amps, the panel dropdown only includes branch panels. If 'Show DPs' is checked, it will display distribution panels so as you can assign smaller loads to distribution panels.
8. Assign the selected POC to a circuit
Once the appropriate panel is selected, the user can click the "Assign" button
for a specific circuit on the panel to assign the POC.
Clicking the assign icon performs a series of actions as follows:

The POC is connected to the panel circuit.

The default suitable breaker set on the POC
-
Initial auto-length, cable size and voltage drop values are calculated and saved to the POC
-
In Distribution Panels, 1,2, and 3-phase POCs will occupy only 1 circuit.

In Normal Branch Panels, the number of circuits occupied will be equal to the number of phases/hots of the POC, i.e., 1 phase POC will occupy 1 circuit, 2 phase POC will occupy 2 circuits, 3 phase POC will occupy 3 circuits.

In Branch Panels, where a Distributed Neutral Kit is fitted, 1 phase POC will occupy 2 circuits, 2 phase POC will occupy 2 circuits, 3 phase POC will occupy 4 circuits. The extra circuit is the neutral.
9. Warning messages during Assignment
When user clicks on assign button, warning message popup windows may appear based on the conditions described below:

If user selects a circuit with a frame size which is too small for the POC, a popup with the message “Please select a breaker with a larger frame size“ will appear on the screen first. This popup will not let the user to proceed with the assignment. A circuit with a sufficient frame size should be selected.

If user selects a circuit with an existing assignment, a popup with the message “You can't assign to a circuit with an existing future assignment“ will appear on the screen first. This popup will not let the user to proceed with the assignment. A free circuit should be selected.

If one or more of the following conditions are true when the user selects a circuit then another popup will be displayed to the user:

The POC is already assigned to another panel
-
The POC is locked
-
The panel of the chosen circuit is locked
This popup will contain one or more of the following messages depending on which of the above conditions are true:

“EntityCode-Life-POCRef is already assigned to panel. Reassigning it will reset the breaker, auto-length and auto-cable-size. Any design-length and actual-length values will also be cleared."

“EntityCode-Life-POCRef is currently Locked. Proceeding will unlock the POC.“
-
“This Panel has been locked due to capacity issues. You need to have approval from CS before proceeding.”

The user can choose to proceed with the assignment or they can press “No” on the message to cancel the assignment.
10. Other functionality on page
When a panel is selected on the panel selection page, the user can click the "Edit Panel" link to edit panel details and they can perform other actions on the circuit grid. The functionality available for panels and on the circuit grid is described on the PowerHub Panels page.
B. Assign Multiple Similar POCs
When assigning a tool’s POCs to power panels, it is preferable to assign all POCs to as few panels as possible. The Assign POC button described above allows users to assign POCs to panels one at a time. However, when a tool has multiple similar POCs, users often aim to assign all of them to the same panel. With the one-by-one assignment using the Assign POC button, users may unknowingly fill up a panel, only to find out later that the remaining similar POCs no longer fit on that same panel.
To address this, use the Assign Multiple Similar POCs button. This feature helps identify panels that can accommodate the load of all similar POCs from a tool, allowing users to assign them all at once, on the same screen and to the same panel. This optimizes the manual assignment process, improves efficiency, and reduces the time spent on power pre-assignments.
Clicking Assign Multiple Similar POCs on the home page grid takes you to the same panel selection screen described above. All the components and functionalities described under Assign POC section are available here.
The following subsections will explain how similar POCs are displayed on this screen, how users can view panels capable of accommodating all the similar POCs, and how to assign them to the selected panel—all within the same interface.
1. Similar POCs
POCs are considered similar if they have:

Same Utility supply type (e.g. NPS, EPS or CPS)
-
Same Train
-
Same Power Tag
-
Same FLA Group (<57 amps or >57 amps)
-
Same Voltage Group (based on Panel voltage, a 208V and 120V POC are in the same group as they both rquirea a 208V panel).
On the panel selection page, all similar POCs for the selected tool will appear as individual, selectable buttons.
The POC that the user initially clicked on (via the Assign Multiple Similar POCs button) will be in-focus by default. The properties of this focused POC—such as TPOC: E01, Voltage: 0.208, FLA: 175, Phase: 3H, Level: Fab, Panel: F340BFCDH27A, Roxtec: A/Z/12 — are displayed above the similar POC buttons.
Users can click on any of the similar POC buttons to bring it into focus and view its detailed properties. Additionally, hovering over a POC button will display its properties as a tooltip for quick reference.
2. Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations for panel selection
Each similar POC button includes an "Include" checkbox. Users can check or uncheck this box to include or exclude that specific POC from the Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations shown in the panel dropdown.
When a similar POC is included, unchecking its checkbox will exclude it from the Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations in the panel dropdown. These calculations will immediately refresh to reflect the change and will no longer consider that POC.
Conversely, when a POC is excluded, checking its checkbox will include it in the calculations. The Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations will update to incorporate the newly included POC.
Only the POCs that are currently included are considered in these calculations. This interactive functionality allows users to selectively include only the relevant POCs, helping them accurately evaluate panel capacity and choose the most suitable panel that can accommodate the selected POCs.

If none of the included POCs have X and Y coordinates available, the system will use the Tool X and Tool Y coordinates to calculate the distance, which will then be shown under Total Distance.

If one or more included POCs have valid X and Y coordinates, the distance will be calculated individually for each of those POCs. The longest of these distances will be displayed as the Total Distance.
3. Similar POCs default inclusion/exclusion behavior
When displaying similar POCs of a tool on the panel selection page, each POC button will have a default inclusion or exclusion state based on its existing panel assignment status.

The POC on which the user clicked on the Assign Multiple Similar POCs button will always be included by default—regardless of whether it already has a panel assignment. Its checkbox will be checked, and it will be part of the Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations.

For the other similar POCs, the default behavior is as follows:

If a POC already has an existing panel assignment:
-
It will be excluded by default (checkbox unchecked)
-
It will not be included in the Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations
-
A connection icon will appear next to the POC name on the button to indicate the existing assignment
-
Users can manually check the box to include it in the calculations
-

If a POC does not have a panel assignment:
-
It will be included by default (checkbox checked)
-
It will be included in the Bottleneck Fill % and Total Distance calculations

4. Similar POCs Button Color Indicators
The color of each similar POC button reflects its inclusion/exclusion status and whether it is currently in-focus or not:

Included & In-Focus: Button has a white background with a blue border
-
Included & Not In-Focus: Button appears in solid blue
-
Excluded & In-Focus: Button has a white background with a gray border
-
Excluded & Not In-Focus: Button appears in solid gray
These visual cues help users quickly identify the status of each POC at a glance while working on the assignment screen.
5. Dropdowns on panel selection page
On the panel selection page, as well as the panel selection dropdown, the following dropdowns are displayed:

POC Level

Roxtec
-
POC PowerTag
These dropdowns dynamically update based on the POC currently in focus, whether selected manually by clicking a POC button or automatically during multi-POC assignment.
If the focused POC already has values assigned for POC Level, Roxtec, or POC PowerTag, those values will automatically appear in the respective dropdowns when it comes into focus.
Users can click any of the similar POC buttons to bring a specific POC into focus and update these dropdown values as needed.
Note:

The Roxtec dropdowns will appear for the facilities that use Roxtecs.

The updates to POC Level and Roxtec values in the dropdown will apply for the specific POC that is in-focus.

The updates to POC PowerTag value in the dropdown will apply to all the similar POCs
6. Automatic Navigation to Next POC for Assignment
As described above, users can include or exclude POCs from the similar POCs group and choose a panel that can accommodate all the included POCs. Once a panel is selected, and its circuit grid and panel details are displayed, users can assign all the included POCs to that panel directly from the same screen.
When the user begins assigning, starting from the first included POC, the system will automatically move the focus to the next included POC after each assignment. This automatic progression continues until all included POCs have been assigned.
Note: This automatic navigation only applies to included POCs. Any excluded POCs will be skipped during the assignment process.
If an included POC already has an existing panel assignment, when that POC comes into focus, either through automatic navigation or when selected manually, the circuit grid and panel details of the existing panel assigned to that POC will not be displayed (unless the panel selected by the user happens to be the same one). The circuit grid of the panel the user previously selected will remain on screen until the user selects another panel from the dropdown.
If an included POC with an existing panel assignment comes into focus during auto-assignment, and the user clicks the Assign button of a circuit on the selected panel (different from the panel the POC is currently assigned to), a warning message popup will appear. Refer to the A.8 above for the warning messages that appear during assignment process.
C. Assign from Flash
1. Choose Scenario
Before assigning POCs from a flash scenario, the user must select a scenario from this dropdown. Only Scenario’s that have been approved will show in the dropdown list.
2. Assign Selected
This button enables the user to assign only the POCs selected on the grid to the circuits suggested in “Flash Panel: Circuit: Roxtec” column. It will display a confirmation message as train and demand factors will be overwritten if the user continues to assign the POCs.
3. Assign All
This button enables the user to assign all POCs to the circuits suggested in “Flash Panel: Circuit: Roxtec” column. It will display a confirmation message as train and demand factors will be overwritten if the user continues to assign the POCs.
